ALCOHOL AND TIZANIDINE

Medical Diagnosis and Drugs, Medications
Sedation occurs in up to 50% of patients taking tizanidine; these effects may be additive with alcohol. Additive hypotensive effects also considered possible, see antihypertensives. Alcohol modestly increases tizanidine levels, which may enhance these effects.
The degree of impairment will depend on the individual patient. However, warn all patients of the potential effects, and counsel against driving or undertaking other skilled tasks, and to sit or lie down if they become dizzy or faint.
