AMINOGLYCOSIDES AND DIGOXIN
The serum levels of digoxin can be increased (more than doubled) by the concurrent use of gentamicin in patients with congestive cardiac failure and diabetes.
Patients should be monitored for signs of digoxin toxicity if gentamicin is given, especially those with diabetes or impaired renal function. Initially, checking pulse rate is probably adequate.
