ANTIHISTAMINES AND MAOIS - PROMETHAZINE
Promethazine is a phenothiazine antihistamine. Rarely, cases of neuroleptic malig- nant syndrome or extrapyramidal symptoms have been seen when phenothiazines have been given with MAOIs.
The UK manufacturer contraindicates the use of promethazine both with and for 14 days after stopping treatment with an MAOI, whereas the US manufacturer advises caution.
