AZOLES AND BENZODIAZEPINES - MIDAZOLAM AND TRIAZOLAM

Medical Diagnosis and Drugs, Medications
Fluconazole, itraconazole, and ketoconazole very markedly increase the bioavailability of oral midazolam and triazolam (AUCs increased by 3.5-fold to about 15-fold), thereby increasing and prolonging their sedative and amnesic effects.
Expect increased and prolonged sedation. It may be prudent to reduce the dose of midazolam or triazolam by at least 50% with fluconazole and by 75% with itraconazole or ketoconazole. Other azoles are likely to interact similarly.
