AZOLES AND CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE
Fluconazole and itraconazole inhibit the metabolism of cyclophosphamide. There is some evidence that, compared with fluconazole, itraconazole might increase cyclophosphamide toxicity.
Until more is known it may be prudent to encourage caution when azoles are used in patients taking cyclophosphamide (other than therapies established in randomised clinical studies) being alert for unexpected toxicity.
