AZOLES AND OPIOIDS - ALFENTANIL OR FENTANYL
Some patients experience prolonged and increased alfentanil effects if they are also given fluconazole. There is a single case report of opioid toxicity when itraconazole was given to a patient with a fentanyl patch.
Be alert for evidence of prolonged alfentanil or fentanyl effects and respiratory depression. Consider using smaller doses of alfentanil.
