Serum digoxin levels were found to be unchanged by diltiazem in a number of studies but other studies describe increases ranging from 20 to 85%.
All patients taking digoxin with diltiazem should be well monitored for signs of over-digitalisation (e.g. bradycardia) and dosage reductions should be made if necessary.
