CALCIUM-CHANNEL BLOCKERS AND TRICYCLICS

Diltiazem and verapamil can increase plasma imipramine levels, possibly accompan- ied by undesirable ECG changes. Two isolated reports describe increased nortriptyline and trimipramine levels in 2 patients given diltiazem.
The general importance of this interaction is unclear, but bear it in mind in case of an unexpected response to treatment.
