
COLESTYRAMINE AND RELATED DRUGS AND VALPROATE
Colestyramine causes a small 20% reduction in the absorption of valproate.
No interaction occurs if administration of the drugs is separated by 3 hours. Note that it is usually recommended that other drugs are given one hour before or 4 to
6 hours after colestyramine. Colesevelam does not appear to interact, and may therefore be a suitable alternative in some patients.
