
MACROLIDES AND STATINS - SIMVASTATIN OR LOVASTATIN
The levels of simvastatin and lovastatin are increased by clarithromycin, erythromy- cin, telithromycin and other macrolides that inhibit CYP3A4 (see macrolides). Rhabdomyolysis has been seen.
It has been recommended that simvastatin and lovastatin should be stopped during short courses of these macrolides.
