METRONIDAZOLE AND PHENOBARBITAL
Phenobarbital markedly increases the metabolism of metronidazole, and treatment failure as a result of this interaction has been reported in both adults and children. Other barbiturates are expected to interact similarly.
Monitor the effects of concurrent use and anticipate the need to increase the metronidazole dosage by 2- to 3-fold.
