A clinical study showed that the AUC of nevirapine was reduced by 31% in patients given rifampicin. Other information suggests that rifampicin reduces the AUC of nevirapine by 58%.
In the UK the combination is not advised. The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends rifabutin, and says that rifampicin should be used only if clearly indicated and with close monitoring.
