PROTON PUMP INHIBITORS AND WARFARIN AND OTHER ORAL ANTICOAGULANTS

Medical Diagnosis and Drugs, Medications
Raised INRs and/or bleeding have been seen in patients taking warfarin with esomeprazole, lansoprazole or omeprazole, and acenocoumarol with omeprazole, but on the whole the proton pump inhibitors do not appear to have any clinically significant interactions with these anticoagulants.
Any interaction seems rare, but bear the possibility in mind in case of an excessive response to anticoagulation.
