SIBUTRAMINE AND TRIPTANS

Sibutramine inhibits serotonin uptake. The serious serotonin syndrome, has, rarely, been seen when sibutramine has been taken with serotonergic drugs. The manufacturers therefore say that sibutramine should not be taken with any serotonergic drugs and specifically name sumatriptan.
The combination need not be avoided, but monitor carefully if any triptan is also given.
