TETRACYCLINES AND ZINC
The absorption of tetracyclines is inhibited by up to 50% by zinc. All tetracyclines (with perhaps the exception of doxycycline) are expected to interact similarly.
Separate administration. In the case of iron, which interacts by the same mechanism, 2 to 3 hours is sufficient. Doxycycline may be a useful non-inter- acting alternative.
